Spring brings loads of events to Ibiza, but two of the most special ones are the Festes de Maig with its diverse programme of concerts, shows, kids’ activities and sports events; and the Barruguet Festival devoted to family theatre and to be held from 23th to 25th May this year with a wide range of plays to enjoy with the family.
Santa Eulària in May: culture and traditions
Festes de Maig 2025: traditional festivities
The local fiestas for the First Sunday of May are held in Santa Eulària des Riu with cultural events spread over several weeks. However, the largest events are reserved for the weekend of the first Sunday of the month, like the free concert held on the most important day of the fiestas and performed by a well-known Spanish band or singer every year. The concert for this year’s fiestas, at 9pm on Saturday 3rd May 2025, will be hosting the singer Vicco and promises to be one of the major highlights of these fiestas.
The big day, the first Sunday of May, has been declared Fiesta of Cultural Interest by the regional government of Ibiza given its deep roots and cultural relevance on the island. The morning starts with mass at the Puig d’en Missa church and is then followed by a show of Ibiza’s old folk dance calledball pagès. This day will also be hosting the traditional cart parade, a dog show with Ibizan hounds and folk dances on Playa d’en Espanya as well as a classic car show.
Other highlights planned for the first weekend of May are the pilgrimage or “romería” to Creu d’en Ribes, the classic and old car show, the Menorca dressage show and the “correfoc” on Saturday night. You can check all the activities and events planned on the Visit Santa Eulària website.
