Interesting facts about Christmas in Ibiza
In Spain, not all regions have the same Christmas traditions and fiestas. Ibiza is known for...
-... singing the Caramelles de Nadal canticles during the Midnight Mass, one of the oldest music performances in Ibiza and Formentera, with over 5 centuries of history. If you ever decide to spend Christmas on the island, come to the Puig de Missa church for Midnight Mass, in Santa Eulària des Riu.
-... preparing a singular sweet dish called Salsa de Nadal. This thick sweet soup is made with eggs, honey, cinnamon, almonds, saffron, pepper, sugar and... chicken broth! It’s a filling dessert that is similar to liquid turron (nougat) and is traditionally eaten for the first time during the morning of 24th December.
Three Wise Men and the nativity scene
Nowadays, the traditional Three Wise Men have to compete against Father Christmas in bringing presents to kids and adults, but it’s the Three Wise Men who end the Christmas holidays in Ibiza and all over Spain.
